Lindsay Lohan opened a beach club on Mykonos’s Kalo Livadi on Saturday. Or, rather, she lent her name to a beach club on Mykonos’s Kalo Livadi, which she opened with Greek investors who would like to remain nameless. The operation follows Lohan nightclub, the “pro-refugee” club, which she and her former business partner Dennis Papageorgiou opened together in 2016 (Papageorgiou is no longer affiliated), and reportedly arrives ahead of one more beach club on the island of Rhodes, debuting at some undisclosed point in the future.

Lohan is quickly becoming a Greek-nightclub magnate, and that feels good and right—or at least more right than some of the other identities she‘s tried on in recent years, such as a young Gwyneth Paltrow lifestyle guru, or fashion designer. It’s so nice when your favorite stars lean into the brands they were destined for.

Scott Carlsen, Lohan’s loyal publicist-manager, sent over a video advertising the beachfront club. In it, there are many, many women in bikinis, but no Lohan. There are a gaggle of beefy boys wearing hats and pouring champagne, but no Lohan. There’s a remix of that Chainsmokers and Coldplay song and sweeping drone shots, but no Lohan. There are little taglines, like “Forget anything you’ve ever seen” and “Cooking delicious memories,” but no Lohan. Where is Lohan? Seems like a club would want to advertise its namesake.

Carlsen assured me that more Lohan-centric promotional material was on the way. Thank goodness. Give the people what they want, you know—and the people want Lohan, now as ever. He did also include in his original e-mail this 2011 short film featuring the actress. It’s something like a consolation prize while we wait. Here is that, too:

Saturday’s beachfront opening was soft, so interested parties will also have to wait for a report on how it all is. Elsewhere, reviews on TripAdvisor indicate the Lohan nightclub is going well. “The place is a top-notch one and it gets totally crowded to a level where you cannot even raise your hands in the air,” says Maksim B from Belgium. “I guess one of the best clubs in Athens, maybe even number 1,” says Andreea C. “Love the robots performance show!!!” says Sarisoy from Istanbul. Imagine having a Lohan-completist day on one’s next trip to Greece, beginning at the beach club and ending at the robots-performance show.

Lindsay Lohan took to Instagram on Sunday after receiving the ‘best gift on my birthday’.
The Mean Girls star posted a video for her 6.5 million followers just ahead of her 32nd birthday on Monday.
The clip showed her little sister Ali, 24, in a bright yellow swimsuit playing ball with children in the Aegean Sea.

‘The best gift on my birthday is my sister surprising me in mykonos,’ Lindsay wrote in the caption.
Ali also took to social media to celebrate Lindsay’s milestone.

She posted on Instagram Stories a black and white image of her and Lindsay riding in a convertible together.
‘Happy birthday my beautiful angel sister. I am so blessed to have you as my sister,’ Ali wrote as a caption.

Ali also shared a photo of herself, Lindsay and their mother Dina Lohan, 55, together wishing her a happy birthday.
Lindsay has been Mykonos promoting her new business venture Lohan Beach House that opened in May.
She also is the co-owner of the Lohan nightclub in Athens with Greek millionaire and restaurateur Dennis Papageorgiou.

The dance hall opened in Athens in 2016 and a third club was expected on Greece’s island of Rhodes in the future.
Lindsay relocated to Dubai in December 2016.
She previously lived in London and starred in a 2014 production of Speed-the-Plow in the West End.
Lindsay will return to television on the Sky One series Sick Note later this year in a recurring role.

In a May interview with Emirates Women, Lindsay Lohan announced she finally found peace while living in Dubai. She also found a new career in name-brand clubs. After successful openings in Greece, Lohan reported in May that she is taking over two islands in one of Dubai’s most notorious development projects: The World. This project has weathered numerous roadblocks and scandals since its inception in 2003. But, as Lohan plans to open a beach club on one of the islands later this year, it looks as if the mega-project is on a path to international redemption.

In the bay outside of Dubai, 300 sand islands began to rise out of the water. They were named after different countries and arranged to look like planet earth. By 2008, the construction of the man-made archipelago was complete. Nakheel, the local developer, told the National that 70% of The World had sold. Developers and architects were drawing up ambitious projects to satisfy the whims of millionaires. The owner of Ireland planned to build a replica of Giant’s Causeway. Karl Lagerfeld was hired to design homes on Isla Moda, a space devoted as much to celebrating couture as it was exclusivity. Then, the financial crisis hit Dubai.

Development halted on the islands. By 2009, the state-owned conglomerate Dubai World, which included Nakheel, was reportedly bailed out of debts reaching $25 billion. Other investors were not able to follow-through with development plans and so the project remained villa-less. In an early 2011 tribunal, lawyers claimed the islands were sinking back into the ocean.

On the other side of the world, Lindsay Lohan was in trouble with the law, too. Charged with felony theft for lifting a necklace, she returned in February 2011 for her eighth stint in court in nine months. When she completed her mandated community service hours, the county judge left her with a piece of advice: “Live your life in a more mature way, stop the night-clubbing and focus on your work.”

In 2016, nightclubs became her work. According to Trip Advisor, she’s not bad at it. Lohan opened her first nightclub in Athens with business partner Dennis Papageorgiou (no longer affiliated). Reviews online praise it as the “best club in town” and a “totally surprising experience,” noting that the large club is normally packed. This May, she opened up an exclusive beach club in Mykonos and now has plans to have a similar one in Rhodes. But, for her most ambitious project, she is setting her sights on Dubai’s man-made islands.

Lohan announced she will take over Lebanon and Thailand in The World complex. The former will be a beach club with a restaurant, cabanas and possibly private villas while the latter will house a luxury hotel and a Michelin-style restaurant. Her beach club on Lebanon will open by the end of this year.

Opening clubs does not mean Lohan has returned to the lifestyle they embody. “I get so uncomfortable with that word, party,” she told Emirates Women. Instead, in a shrewd business move, she evaluated what the public would expect her to do well. “That’s why I opened my club in Greece, because I thought what’s the one thing that people have most misconstrued about me? It was probably about me always going to clubs.” She did not have to do much marketing for her latest opening. The only promotional video that included her was a recycled short film from 2011. She relied on the name to sell the spot: Lohan Beach Club. According to the cab driver bringing a New York Times reporter to an interview with Lohan, the beach house is becoming one of the hottest clubs on the island.

As Lohan leans into her personal brand, The World is coming back to life, too. Developers are returning with even more outlandish ideas than they had a decade ago. Kleindienst, a European real estate company in Dubai, is developing a replica of Venice that includes a section entirely underwater. Josef Kleindienst told the Guardian he also has plans for an island where it will snow all year round. And, on Sweden, Kleindienst claims gulf royalty have purchased ten luxury palaces. Construction has already begun on the palaces, which are meant to be finished by the end of this year.

As blueprints and budgets begin to resemble those a decade ago, it is best to hope that history does not repeat in this World. “The Global Economy Is Partying Like It’s 2008,” wrote Desmond Lachman in the New York Times last December. The World, as it is imagined, may not survive another hangover.

Lindsay Lohan is in the process of developing a reality show about her growing Greek club empire for MTV.

The actress has taken a step back from the silver screen lately, and is instead focusing on setting up small businesses in the country she loves to visit the most: Greece.

Lohan has opened a club in Mykonos and is soon planning on launching another venue in Rhodes. Though she became known to paparazzi and the public for her wild partying and antics more than for her roles in the past, she wants to show audiences that she has changed and is now in a different place in her life.

As she herself said to “The New York Times”, “There’s a business side to my life now, but I’m not in America, so no one knows about it, which is nice for me”. She went on to say, “I’m a normal, nice person. A good person. I don’t have any bad intentions. And my past has to stay in the past. People have to just let go of it and stop bringing it up because… it’s gone. It’s dead. And that’s the most important thing to me.”

With a new reality show, Lohan hopes to show this side of herself to US audiences, as well as showcase her businesses and the beauty of Greece.

Lindsay Lohan is looking to give fans a look at her newest venture, the Lohan Beach House in Greece, and she’s found the best way to do it. Lohan is in talks to star in a reality show that will focus on her new life as a beach club magnate.
In an interview with The New York Times promoting the Lohan Beach House, which is located on a “healthy stretch of the Kalo Livadi beach” in Mykonos, Lohan also teased a different club she’s opening soon in Rhodes, another Greek island. And to help promote it, she’s planning a “Vanderpump Rules-style reality show for MTV centered around the club.”

This shouldn’t be much of a surprise for anyone who watched Lohan’s docuseries on Oprah’s OWN, which focused on Lohan’s life post-rehab back in 2014. The show was canceled after one season and didn’t do much for Lohan’s reputation. Most recently, Lohan was shopping a reality prank show that would have her taking over other people’s social media accounts and forcing them to take part in embarrassing challenges. That’s along with her newest ventures as the spokeswoman for lawyers.com and starting her own makeup line. That is when she’s not providing aid to Syrian refugees and becoming a vocal advocate for the Muslim community.
“I’m a normal, nice person,” Lohan told The Times. “A good person. I don’t have any bad intentions. And my past has to stay in the past. Like, people have to just let go of it and stop bringing it up because it’s not — it’s gone. It’s dead. And that’s the most important thing to me.”
Here’s to hoping LiLo will find herself a star like LaLa Kent to lead up her reality show, which there’s no premiere date for at this time. But, by the time it does premiere, Lohan might not just own multiple beach clubs, but an island, too. The New York Times reported she’s designing Lohan Island in Dubai, something she also teased in an interview with Wendy Williams earlier this year. And honestly, who doesn’t want to see a show about that?

MYKONOS, Greece — The other day at the newly opened Lohan Beach House, families played on the beach alongside topless women alongside the religiously covered up, while a shirtless and ripped Romanian man with several teardrops tattooed on his face and the image of a person doing cocaine inked on his abs danced near the bar. None of these people who had paid dozens of euros to recline on a thick Lohan-branded towel harassed, or even seemed to notice, Lindsay Lohan herself, in a red swimsuit and her trusty red baseball hat with the word “RUSSIA,” who had just taken a seat directly oceanside.

Parked along a healthy stretch of the Kalo Livadi beach, the beach club, which includes a restaurant, a bar and a football field’s worth of sand, is a serene sprawl of wood decks, lush canopies and overstuffed chaise longues. On the lazy, winding ride there — all of the cabs in Mykonos seem to cost 35 euros and arrive no sooner than 30 minutes after they’re called — the driver described the club as a genuine island success.

Among his passengers, he said, the destination is approaching the popularity of even the vaunted Nammos beach club, despite having opened only a few weeks ago, with a marketing campaign apparently limited to a recycled clip from a 2011 film the artist Richard Phillips made of Ms. Lohan swimming in a pool.

Ms. Lohan’s assistant Nichola is a tall blond woman who wouldn’t be out of place on the set of “Westworld.” She had confused Ms. Lohan’s 6 p.m. interview with The New York Times with another interview, scheduled for the same day, with The Sunday Times, a British newspaper. And that appointment had already been postponed, Nichola said, because Ms. Lohan had a cold.

Still, Ms. Lohan eventually agreed to speak.

Ms. Lohan said this mix of a clientele is by design, in part because most of the island hot spots cater to the sunset crowd. That leaves her beachside club almost the entire day to entertain the diurnal, even if that’s the only trait some of her patrons have in common.

Ms. Lohan betrayed no trace of the European-tinged accent she has exhibited in past interviews, and she was excited to talk about the Lohan brand. After licensing her name last year to a club in Athens — she has since been bought out of that project, she said — she decided to strike again this summer, exercising the creative control she felt she lacked in Athens. This time, her partners are opting to remain silent.

So she designed the Mykonos club down to its playlists, she said, which skew toward Top 40 with a healthy serving of deep house, culled in part just to show she can compete with Scorpios, a club down the coast.

Another Lohan club is scheduled to open soon, in Rhodes.

She said she is also working on plans to design a Lohan island in Dubai.

She also has a lawyer.com sponsorship, plans for a “Vanderpump Rules”-style reality show for MTV centered around the club, and a general outlook that, at this point, if Ms. Lohan can believe it, she can achieve it.

“There’s a business side to my life now, but I’m not in America, so no one knows about it, which is nice for me,” Ms. Lohan said. “Because I get to actually focus on the result of things.”

If there’s one thing Ms. Lohan wants the public to know about her personal life, it’s that there’s almost nothing that she wants them to know. She hoped, she said, that people realize “I’m a normal, nice person. A good person. I don’t have any bad intentions. And my past has to stay in the past.”

“Like, people have to just let go of it and stop bringing it up because it’s not — it’s gone,” she said. “It’s dead. And that’s the most important thing to me.”

Despite decades of breathless tabloid coverage of her life, she said the public has never known the real her at all. Recently, that has been by design. “I think success is the best revenge — and silence, as a presence,” she said. “When I chose to change my future, my life, I was like, ‘Where’s the one place I can find silence?’”

That place turned out to be Dubai, where unmarried women can still bearrested or deported for the crime of becoming pregnant. It’s also a place where intruding on privacy via photography can often be illegal, and Ms. Lohan feels protected enough there to leave the doors of her penthouse apartment unlocked.

She said she first discovered Dubai in 2008, when she hosted the opening of an Atlantis resort. On her second visit, she realized there were no cameras tracking her. “That click — Karl Lagerfeld said, ‘It’s like they’re shooting guns at me,’ when I first met him at Fendi,” Ms. Lohan said. “And I felt it. You feel like you’re always watching out, you’re paranoid. It creates this paranoia in your head that’s not necessary.”

That’s part of the reason she doesn’t see herself moving from Dubai anytime soon.

“It’s the safest place. It’s less demanding. America is always like, ‘Go go go go go!’” Ms. Lohan said. “I don’t have to turn on the news and see about the Kardashians. I don’t have to see anything anymore. I choose what I want to see and how I want to live.”

That also means she hasn’t been following the last year in America closely, where Donald Trump’s presidency and the #MeToo movement have transformed the country’s culture into something unrecognizable from the days when Mr. Trump held a position of power over only the contestants on “The Apprentice” and photographers made sport of shooting pictures up Ms. Lohan’s skirt as she got in and out of cars.

At the same time, it’s an eerily familiar landscape. In 2004, Mr. Trump publicly mused on whether the freckles on Ms. Lohan’s chest made her more or less sexually attractive. She was 18 at the time. (He left that question unanswered but concluded that her “wreck” of a father could only add to the experience of sleeping with her.)

“She’s probably deeply troubled and therefore great in bed,” Mr. Trump told Howard Stern on his radio show. “How come the deeply troubled women, you know, deeply, deeply troubled, they’re always the best in bed?”

That’s another thing Ms. Lohan wants to leave in the past. “Here’s the thing: very simple with politics,” she said. “He’s the president. No matter what anyone says, he’s still the president. I have no feeling. I have no emotion.”

She did say that Mr. Trump’s daughter Tiffany, an old friend who is visiting her next month in Greece, is “a really sweet girl. Nice person.”

Ms. Lohan’s own safety and well-being are her chief concerns. Though she is still close with her family, she has been keeping in touch mostly at an arm’s length, primarily through FaceTime. (“Look, I’m not in control of my family,” she said. “I’m only in control of myself. We’re all friends. My mom and dad are friends, everyone’s good.”)

Just now, turning 32 at the beginning of July, and for the first time in her life, she says she feels safe.

“If anyone in my life for one second, I feel unsafe with, they’re out,” Ms. Lohan said. “Very simple. This is it. I’m not going to complicate things. Because I’m a caretaker, I always want to give to people.”

As she said this, she noticed a steady stream of tears pouring from my left eye, which was directly in the line of the bright sun hanging behind her. I assured her this happens all the time; she silently pulled out a cup and a glass bottle of mineral water from a large ice bucket beside her and slid them across the table to me.

“I know who I am as a person,” Ms. Lohan said. And that still includes being an actress, even if she has grown uncomfortable with the publicity side of it.

“I don’t want any judgment on me. You know? My acting is good, my work is good, and I love work,” Ms. Lohan said. To that end, she has been quietly picking up projects; she recently filmed the British series “Sick Note,” and says she has several more roles planned, scattered around the world.

She says she craves the structure of performing and points to the 2014 London production of “Speed-the-Plow” as a turning point in her life, where she says she found comfort in just doing the thing night after night. “Just the diligence of being on a stage. It’s not like a movie where you can miss a line. You’re live, there, in front of everyone,” Ms. Lohan said. “Very structured. And I love that. And that gave me, like, a calmness. And that kind of changed a lot of things for me.”

Though not particularly religious, Ms. Lohan said she meditates at least twice a day, a habit she picked up from Oprah Winfrey, who turned her on to the book “The Untethered Soul.” She also subscribes to the forecasts of the astrologist Susan Miller, whom she calls a friend. (Asked if she knows why Ms. Miller routinely and famously posts her predictions long past deadline, Ms. Lohan shrugged and said she has just learned to wait a few days to check.)

She also agrees with the numerology proposition that life can be divided into approximately 30-year cycles, a theory that dovetails with a chain of events she said was set into motion in the summer of her 30th birthday, which she celebrated on a nearby beach.

It’s the same place where her former fiancé, the Russian socialite Egor Tarabasov, was filmed assaulting her a few months later. “It happened, here in Mykonos, on the beach. And that was the moment where I switched and I was like, ‘I’m going to take control of my life completely, and fire everyone and just rehire them when I’m ready,’” Ms. Lohan said. “And that’s why I’m here today, because it was on that beach where I got hit. I said, ‘You know what? If there’s anything I can do, I’m going to get that beach. It’s going to be my beach.’”

Her 30th birthday was also the day she defied fate to option Tina Seskis’s “The Honeymoon,” a psychological thriller that Ms. Lohan declined to spoil for me, saying only that she saw herself in one of the characters.

“I was at Nammos and I was reading it,” she said. “I’m reading this book and taking notes on it, like, ‘This is like my life, something that happened to me in my life, oh my God! I need to buy this book! I need to meet this woman!’ She’s incredible.”

At the time, Ms. Lohan was staying with a host family in a small church in Greece, “because I wanted to be, like, with a family, alone.” She got a call from Ms. Seskis, who had seen a paparazzi picture of the actress reading her book. Ms. Seskis was phoning to apologize because she had already sold the rights.

“I said, ‘No no no! Let me buy it! Please, let me buy it! Let’s write it together,’” Ms. Lohan said. “She goes, ‘No, they want somebody else to write it.’ I said, ‘No, we’re going to write it.’” A year and a half later, they’re writing the script together, and when Ms. Seskis visits Greece this summer, Lohan wants to work with her on the same beach where it all began.

Ms. Lohan also sees the project as a sort of catharsis for the abuse she suffered. “There was this moment where it was like, ‘I don’t really need to be worried about a guy hurting me, I don’t need to live in fear,’” she said. “Because when women show fear, I feel like that makes us powerless.”

Despite Ms. Lohan’s new and relaxed lease on life, there was one arena in which she was inflexible: photos of her.

Nichola said Ms. Lohan could do a shoot the next day, around the same time The Sunday Times would get its rescheduled interview. Ms. Lohan would have had her hair and makeup done, “and we’ll make something work,” Nichola said.

But the next day, as reporter and photographer waited under the sun dappling the stained wooden deck through the sand-colored canopy, Nichola delivered some news: There would be no photo shoot unless Ms. Lohan, who was currently in Athens anyway, was paid for it.

“She shoots for magazines like W and likes to do fashion,” Nichola said. “We can give you exclusive photos, but she only does paid shoots. And if you want to have that discussion, you can, and maybe she’ll consider it.” (The New York Times does not pay photo or interview subjects.)

It was a flicker of classic Lohan terror from the tabloid era. But it was also in line with her new ethos as a sophisticated international businesswoman. That first day, after I left her sitting on her oceanfront chaise, I spotted her filming two young women in black bikinis and rubber unicorn masks frolicking in the waves. She posted the video of them, geotagged to the club, on her Instagram story, to millions of followers. A few minutes later, I watched as she put down her phone, stood and walked directly down the beach and into the ocean, her shoulders perfectly squared, her hair falling in neat waves down the middle of her back. From under the canopy at the restaurant bar, it really did look just like a frame from the Richard Phillips video. The beach was hers.

Ms. Lohan dove under the water, the unicorn women rejoined their friends, a waiter carried a tray of Aperol spritzes off the deck and onto the beach, and the man with teardrops tattooed on his face swayed in bliss to the music. Ms. Lohan swam in even strokes away from the shore, and no one took any pictures.

Lindsay Lohan is in the midst of chiseling her way back into the international pop culture consciousness, but as of right now, she’s not setting her sights on returning to Hollywood.
Between signing up as the spokesperson for lawyer.com, her attempts at philanthropic work in Istanbul, and creating an imminent beauty brand, Lindsay Lohan has been quite busy working on her comeback as an entrepreneur. So let’s break down all of Lohan’s current business ventures. She owns a namesake nightclub in Athens (which she initially opened with the no-longer-affiliated Dennis Papageorgiou), has plans for another club on the Greek island of Rhodes, and has now officially opened the Lohan Beach House in Mykonos.

On top of all that, the actress has kept her hands full with designing not one but two whole islands—according to an interview with Emirates Woman, Lohan’s island will take up one portion of the World Islands archipelago in Dubai, and will include “a luxury hotel, Michelin-worthy restaurant, idyllic waterfront pool and plenty of leisure activities.”
Last week, Lohan teased a sneak peek of her Beach House on Kalo Livadi Beach in Mykonos, by sharing a snap of the resort’s restaurant menu on her Instagram Stories, and on May 31, she released a promotional video (which prominently features footage of Lohan in a bikini shot by Richard Phillips in 2011) with a cryptic caption explaining her gratitude for how “precious” life can be, and the Beach House’s tagline “where the sea sets me free.”

The fact that her Greek investors have made the decision to go unnamed in the purchase of the resort is not the only curious aspect of it. There’s also the original generic (and Lohan-less) promotional video released for the club’s soft opening, and its efforts to make “let’s get salty” a commonplace catchphrase for all of its followers and hotel guests (although, let’s be real—much like Mean Girls’ “fetch,” this slogan is probably never going to catch on with anyone). All combined, it’s clear why the mysterious Lohan Beach House has stirred up some intrigue for the entrepreneur’s 6.4 million Instagram followers.
On its site, Lohan Beach House outlines what makes up the resort—a beach, a restaurant, a boutique that sells clothes “fitting perfectly with the avant-garde character of the Lohan concept,” and a “wellness corner.” The Beach House just opened in May, so the clientele have yet to start arriving in droves, but according to Instagram, those who are thinking about booking their stay can at least get a sneak peek of what kind of food they can order while sitting seaside. It looks like the resort’s restaurant menu is comprised of salads, watermelon cocktails, and… fruits on ice? Perhaps that is enticingly delectable enough.

According to TripAdvisor, Lohan’s Athens nightclub has been successful in its endeavors so far. The club has garnered some very positive reviews; guests mention being “surprised” at how much fun they have at Lohan’s club. It’s also been heralded as a “flawless experience,” so maybe the Beach House will surprise us all too.
Right now, it is hard to tell whether Lohan Beach House is shady or not, but if the success of the Lohan Night Club is any indication, living on a Lohan-branded resort for the summer could be a strange, but fun time.
